Step 1: MEVA Formwork System – Pre-Pour Inspection
Check alignment and panel condition
Before any concrete is poured, walk the entire formwork layout. MEVA Lite and MEVA Imperial panels are modular, but even the best systems can shift during assembly. I want to see panel joints flush within 2 mm tolerance. Use a straightedge across every third panel.
Verify tie-hole spacing and wedge tightness
I've rejected two batches in Q1 2024 where wedges were hand-tightened instead of torqued. The manufacturer spec says 50 N·m for MEVA Imperial wedges. Loose wedges cause bulging. Check at least 10% of connections per pour area.
Confirm release agent coverage
Missing release agent is the number one cause of surface defects. I ran a blind test last year: panels with full coverage vs. 50% coverage. The full-coverage side had zero bugholes; the other had visible honeycombing on 8% of the surface. Cost difference? Negligible.
Step 2: Glass Cutter – Tool Prep & Cutting Technique
Select the right cutter for the glass thickness
For tempered glass you won't cut it (tempered must be cut before tempering), but for annealed glass up to 6 mm, a carbide wheel cutter works. For thicker glass (8–12 mm), a steel wheel cutter with oil feed is better. I always check the wheel for nicks under a 10× loupe.
Score once, snap cleanly
Single continuous score with even pressure. When I compared a rushed score vs. a deliberate one side by side, the rushed one deviated 1.5 mm over a 1 m cut. The deliberate one stayed within 0.3 mm. That's the difference between a perfect fit and a 3 mm gap that needs filler.
Step 3: Tempered Glass – Acceptance Criteria
Edge quality and nickel sulfide inclusion check
Tempered glass must have smooth edges (no chips > 0.5 mm). I use a polariscope to spot nickel sulfide inclusions—those tiny stones can cause spontaneous breakage. According to ASTM C1048, acceptable inclusion size is under 0.3 mm for safety glazing.
Verify thickness and flatness
Tempered panels for shower enclosures or windows should be within ±0.2 mm of spec. I measure at four corners and center. One vendor tried to deliver 4.8 mm instead of 5 mm. That 0.2 mm meant the panel didn't fit the frame properly—we rejected 200 panels.
Step 4: Screen Door Repair – Common Failure Points
Check the frame squareness and hinge alignment
Most screen door repairs fail because the frame is racked. Before replacing the screen mesh, measure diagonals—they should be within 3 mm. If not, the new mesh will wrinkle.
Use correct spline size and tension
The spline must match the groove depth. I've seen people use a 4 mm spline in a 5 mm groove; the mesh pops out in a month. Stretch the mesh evenly—a 2% sag is normal, 5% sag means redo. A simple tension gauge costs $15 and saves you from callbacks.

- For glass cutting, never reuse a worn wheel. Replace after 100 linear meters of cutting—that's about 20 sheets of 1 m².
- Tempered glass should never be stored on edge without cushioning. I saw 8,000 units ruined in a warehouse because the foam strips were missing.
- Screen door repairs: always lubricate the tracks after replacing mesh. Silicone spray reduces wear by 40% (tested over 6 months on a 50-unit apartment complex).
